At The Pedaler, we take pride in our knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. Since we like our crew so much, we thought you’d like to get to know them too! Check back here for profiles of all our Pedalers, get to know the team, and learn more about this dynamic city!

Brynne joined The Pedaler for her first year this spring and we are absolutely delighted to have her! A rare combination of avid cyclist, local historian and experienced tour guide, Brynne fit in with The Pedaler team immediately this summer. Brynne came to us through connections at Can-Bike. Her husband Mike was teaching a Can-Bike Learn to Ride course. Pedaler co-owner Rose approached the organizer of the course to see if she knew anyone that would make a great cycling guide, and Brynne stepped up!

Brynne’s favourite ride this summer is the trek out to Comox and back, a massive ride totaling over 400km. Brynne is a randonneur – a long-distance cyclist. Randonneuring typically consists of rides over 200km in a noncompetitive environment, but still within set time limits. After a crazy long ride, Brynne’s beer of choice is the Red Fife Hefeweizen from Spinnaker’s. Not only is it delicious, but it has a great story as well – the wheat used for the beer is sourced from a local farm and is a part of The Ark of Taste, a project that catalogues and acknowledges endangered heritage foods that are distinct to a certain ecoregion. Vancouver Island’s Red Fife wheat was Canada’s first addition to the catalogue.

Speaking of beer, Brynne’s favourite stop on a tour is the stop at Songhees Point on the Hoppy Hour tour. It is a beautiful vantage point to talk about the city’s history while also seeing views of its new growth. And, according to Brynne, “it’s fun to make people listen to history before they are treated with a fresh malty beverage.”

Brynne’s favourite bike at The Pedaler is our tandem. A seasoned tandem rider, she swears by their power to even-out different cycling abilities, making it easy for her to ride long distances with her husband or even her seven-year-old son Steve (an honorary Pedaler employee).

We’re thrilled to have an asset like Brynne on our Pedaler team!
