Labour Day Weekend Victoria is a fantastic time to visit Victoria. From Friday September 2nd to Monday September 5th the entire city is bursting at the seams with events, energy, music and boats! The “City of Festivals” is out in full swing for the last long weekend of the summer with an amazing number of activities and cultural events to participate in. In addition to our usual visitors, Labour Day Weekend also brings back Victoria’s large student population,  ready to start a new year at the University of Victoria.

First, if you’d like to get out of the city for the weekend, try riding up to the Saanich Fair! Just off the Lochside Trail (about a 24 km ride from town) you can visit this classic Labour Day even featuring live entertainment, eating contests, an abundance of farm animals and a lively midway! Traffic tends to be a bit tricky (especially parking) so beat the crowds on your bike!

Back downtown, check out the 39th Annual Victoria Classic Boat Festival from September 2nd to 4th in the Inner Harbour. The festival is open to all well-maintained boats of a “classic design,” with roughly 130 boats participating! The highlight of the weekend is the Sailpast and Salute at 11 am on Sunday morning.

For those who would like to stay inside and away from the frenzied excitement of the inner harbour, catch the final weekend of the Victoria Fringe Festival hosted by Intrepid Theatre, celebrating their 30th season! Fringe Festivals can be found around the world and are an awesome place to check out burgeoning theatre projects from around the world. All of the shows are selected at random (by lottery) and are entirely uncensored. Additionally, 100% of the ticket price goes right back to the artists you see! Tickets are available on TicketRocket or at the door for each show. With multiple venues and several shows at each spot every day, rent a bike to get around the stylish, eco friendly way! We offer multi-day rental rates that will make your Fringe Festival viewing a breeze!

If you’d rather take in some culture while enjoying the great outdoors, check out the 22nd Annual Vancouver Island Blues Bash! Live music will be played on outdoor stages in the Inner Harbour all weekend. Tickets for headlining performances are available at locations around the city, while afternoon shows (from noon until 5 pm) are free!
