How far in advance should I schedule a tour?

For larger parties a two week advance is recommended, although we remain flexible and can usually get something together on a short notice. Our business is seasonal and things get busy in the summer. For smaller parties, a few days to a week is preferable, but you can always inquire about tours that are going out today or tomorrow!

Where can I park my car?

There is all-day paid parking across the street from us in The Clipper Ferry parking lot for $8. They do not have loads of spaces. A safer choice in the busy season is a couple blocks away at the corner of Montreal Street. All-day parking is only $5 and RVs would be OK here. Fisherman’s Wharf is 3 blocks away and there is all-day parking there for $6. Fisherman’s Wharf is a destination location so that lot can be busy. Street parking around our shop is free, however on Monday to Friday it is limited to one or two hours depending on where you park. On Saturday and Sunday street parking is free with no time limit.

What is Your Cancellation Policy?

Cancellation policies differ between rentals and tours and they are described for the specific item you are booking on the INFO tab of that item.  In general, all tour reservations are fully refunded if cancelled 24 hours prior to tour departure. Full refunds are also available due to bad weather, but only if notice is given at least 1.5 hours prior to the tour.  If a tour is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, for reasons other than bad weather, the cancellation fee will be $50.  After a tour has begun, no refunds are available.

How Long are the Tours?

The guided city tours are all about 10-12km/6-7 miles and take from 2 to 4 hours. The longer durations are because there are more stops. We do offer custom length tours upon request. The SELF GUIDED tours are longer but the total distance and pace is up to you.

Can I take my kid(s) on one of your tours?

We’ve learned this is a tricky question to answer.

The short answer is: Kids are welcome on any tour if they can keep up with the adults. Our experience tells us that if they are not riding adult sized bicycles they cannot keep up. The age cutoff is generally 12 years of age. For families with kids younger than that you should consider a private tour so everyone has a fun and safe experience.

A private tour means that you get a guide to yourself and we can tailor the tour to suit your group. Our Private Family Fun tour is popular to accommodate special needs or families that want an exclusive experience. We focus this tour on your family’s unique interests and abilities.

We do not allow use of our trailer or tandems on regular tours due to safety factors involved with group riding in an urban environment, however we are always more than happy to rent, and give expert route advice for those looking to ride with a trailer attached. We can use the specialized equipment on a private tour.

May I keep my bike after the tour?

Yes, if your bike is not reserved for someone else. Upon returning from your tour you may keep your bike with a 10% discount on rental rate – just ask at the shop. You can reserve a bike in addition to your tour to guarantee availability.

You may also take a bike out before your tour as a rental and a 10% discount is available on that rental cost.

Can I bring my own bike on a tour?

Yes, you get a $10 discount off any tour for bringing your own bike!

Do you have gift certificates/cards?

Yes! Please visit our Booking page to purchase a Gift Certificates for any tour.

What Happens if it Rains?

We ride rain or shine unless it is really nasty ( Victoria standards are tame, and we get considerably less rain than Seattle or Vancouver ). We do have rain ponchos and we provide bikes that are equipped with full fenders.

Do you have large group discounts?

If you are organizing for a group feel free to contact us directly so we can help you make the experience memorable for all the right reasons, and discuss payment and discounts.

Where do You Ride?

On our guided tours we ride through Victoria’s residential neighborhoods on low traffic roads and bike paths. You must be comfortable sharing the road with vehicles. Victoria is cycle friendly and most motorists share the road respectfully.

How fit do I have to be?

Tours are casual and we ride at a very comfortable pace so no one gets left behind. Participants should have some cardiovascular stamina and be able to exercise a moderate amount. YOU MUST BE ABLE TO RIDE A BIKE.

What is the age limit for riding an e-bike?

In the province of British Columbia a cyclist must be 16 years of age or older to operate an electric-assist bicycle.

Do you rent bikes?

Yes, and accessories. All rentals include a helmet, handle bar bag or basket, and maps. Please see our rental page for model and pricing information.

Do your bicycles have a rack for panniers?

You can request a rack for your bicycle when you reserve it. We do not have racks on all bicycles only because they get in the way if we need to attach children’s equipment to a bike.

Do you have kids bikes?

Yes. Reserving these during the high season is recommended. Not only does this ensure availability but it will hopefully reduce your time at the shop getting equipment organized for your family so you can be out cycling quicker.

Do you have tandems?

Yes we do. These are popular so it is best to reserve ahead of time during our busy season.

Do you have trailers or tag-alongs?

Yes, we have tag-alongs and child trailers ( 2 child capacity, or 55 pound limit, whichever happens first). These must be used in conjunction with our multi-speed hybrids due to it’s attachment system. Our eBikes cannot pull a trailer or tag-along. We also have a cargo trike where up to 4 small children can ride up front. This style is new for most people and does require some practice to become accustomed to the handling of this 3-wheeled trike.

Can I also rent a bike rack for a rental car?

Do you fix bikes?

No. If you need a pump or a bolt tightened come see us but there are plenty of great bike shops in Victoria who do proper repairs. North Park Bicycle Shop, and Fairfield Bicycle Shop are located near downtown.

Do You Sell Bikes?

Yes, we often sell off last season’s rental bikes. We usually have a small selection, so call ahead or drop by. We do not sell new bicycles. See answer above about bike shops in town if you are looking for a new bike.

Is there a weight limit on the bicycles?

Yes, in order to ensure that your rental or tour is safe, riders must weigh under 280 pounds in order to ride our bicycles. If a rider is over this limit, we cannot rent you a bicycle as they are not safely designed past their engineered maximum weights. If you have any questions, or concerns please let us know.
